The Making of the Freebie Bags

The making-up of 1000 freebie bags was a big undertaking! On a warm Sunday morning volunteers gathered for 3 and 1/2 hours to try and make sense of 20 big cardboard boxes of bags, yarn, patterns and wool soap.

Thanks to Liane, Wendy, Shelna , Lynne, Rosie, Paul , Naomi and Sophie for helping!

Lynne (left) & Shelna (right) are making up packets of pattern leaflets to go in the bags. Paul (centre) opens a box of tote bags.

Wendy, the mistress of the yarn. Yarn in it's natural habitat (the plastic bag), eagerly anticipates it's new home. The piles you see aren't even 10% of the total number of bags.

Rosie packs away the finished bags, ready to be handed out at the game.

New Celeb! Laura Chau!

Super Multi Crafty Laura Chau of Cosmicpluto Knits will be joining us! You may know Laura's work, like Roam, Serrano and Thermal from Knitty.

Saturday, July 12, 2008

Cindy Cole may not be a 'celeb' yet, but it won't be long because she's one of the most interesting a prolific artists I've come across ina long while! Cindy is a fibre artist extraordinaire - she makes toys, graments, jewellery, spins yarn, dyes batts, knits, crochets and probably a few more things I don't know about. She's also an author and publisher of Studioloo Magazine.

More Celebs: Wannietta Prescod!

Also at the game will be Wannietta Prescod, 3rd fastest knitter in the world as determined last February in Minnesota. She will be sitting with a bunch of friends from the Downtown Knit Collective. Wannietta is a member of the World Champion Back to Back Sheep Challenge Toronto Spiders Team. This is the second year in the world that The Spiders have held the World Championship Trophy beating teams from Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Czechoslavakia and several other Canadian Teams to win the Trophy
